The building complex was designed by O’Donnell + Tuomey Ltd. and Teampannon Ltd.. In creating the CEU’s roof garden, the primary intention was to create a usable, flexibly configurable space that would provide the garden experience often missing in the city centre. The atmosphere of the garden is defined by the varying colours of the paving, wooden seating and plant patches. The wooden seating areas with steps provide a good opportunity to relax, study and meet. A diverse planting scheme includes low shrubs, perennial beds and deciduous trees planted in planters to offset exposure. All these combine to ensure both a beautiful scene and a pleasant stay.

The roof garden in Terézváros offers the experience of a real practical garden in a small area. On the borders of the garden on the 6th floor are individually designed and manufactured planters. Not only does this provide a great planting area, it also makes your garden safer. The plants include fragrant herbs, lavender and vinegar trees, bamboos, which provide a nice backdrop for the seating area. Behind the barbecue and kitchen counter, you can see the rooftops of the city. Next to the kitchen counter are your own vegetables, the pots of which, like the whole roof garden, are provided with a carefully programmed irrigation system.
