The “Park auf dem Gleisdreieck” was the office’s first international design competition. The task was to design a new park in the central area of Berlin, in the vicinity of Potsdamer Platz/Leipziger Platz. In a densely built-up inner-city residential area inhabited by different ethnic groups, the park must meet a wide range of requirements: integrating the area into the urban structure, creating different opportunities based on the mobility needs of the residents, meeting the need for calm and enjoyment of nature, taking into account ecological aspects and the historical aspects of the place.
